The Karbala University team, consisting of four students from the College of Law and a student from the College of Education, won the “Memory of Pain and Flame of Hope” competition, which was organized by the Voluntary Development and Advancement Team with the participation of eight universities across Karbala Governorate.
The competition, which was held in conjunction with the International Human Rights Day, aimed to raise awareness of the crimes of the Baath Party and confront attempts to obscure the facts of the past related to the crimes committed by the Baath regime.
The supervisor of the Voluntary Development and Advancement Team, Dr. Muhammad Sahib, said that the competition represents part of the attempts to compensate the families of martyrs and those affected by the former regime, and 176 students from various universities in Karbala Governorate participated in it as part of scientific debates that lasted for two weeks on the crimes of the former regime, while the Karbala University team won the competition.
